Telfer Dennis (1936-2021)
Born South Australia, spent her childhood in Tasmania. On completing schooling at Friends
School, she attended the Hobart Technical College, studying under Dorothy Stoner, Stephen
Walker and Jack Carington-Smith. The latter was to influence her significantly in moulding
her artistic philosophy. After working at The Mercury in the commercial art field, she
married and lived on a sheep property near Cressy. She had numerous one-man exhibitions
and also showed her work on numerous occasions on the Mainland.
I had previous work Telfer Dennis but I had spelled her name wrong as in Denis, however, it
is the same artist.
